🫢 AI's Latest Form Factor: Wearables
Lately, we're witnessing a surge in AI-enabled wearables in the market.
Humane AI Pin: Humane, a startup by ex-Apple execs, unveiled a screenless, standalone device called Humane AI Pin at the Paris Fashion Week. The AI Pin is equipped with a mini-projector, camera, and a speaker, so you can use it without pairing it with a smartphone. The device is scheduled to be shown in full on November 9.
Rewind Pendant: Rewind, an app that records what you do and makes it searchable, has announced a physical device called Rewind Pendant. It's a microphone-enabled necklace that will supposedly hear, transcribe, and store what you say in the real world. (A tad bit creepy?)
Sam Altman x Jony Ive collab: Rumor has it that Sam Altman and the legendary iPhone designer Jony Ive are discussing creating a physical AI device.
Overall, it's exciting to see form factors beyond a chat box when interacting with AI. Physical devices can help capture data that is otherwise hard or cumbersome to collect, like conversations you are having in real life.
On the other hand, these devices will have huge implications on privacy, security, and ownership of data collected. It sounds pretty creepy to have a device that listens and records all your real life conversations. Will we eventually get used to a new norm?
